Good morning,

You have requested the following:

The number of tenants and housing voucher recipients (such as those receiving section 8) who have lost their housing, either through eviction or loss of voucher, due to arrests or felony convictions. This includes tenants who may have lost their housing because a family member was arrested or those whose arrest records led to a loss of benefits. Please indicate whether the person arrested/convicted was the name on the voucher/housing certificate.

Please include this data from the past year, from January-December of 2019 for Section 8 as well as the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP), and the Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP).
Our response is as follows:

For the period of January 2019 - December 2019, 4 tenants in public housing were evicted for criminal activity which violated the Cambridge Housing Authority lease and 2 housing choice voucher recipients were terminated from the housing choice voucher program for criminal activity which violated the participant's obligations. In all 6 cases, the person arrested was the head of household (name on the voucher/housing certificate.) It is important to note, that in all 6 cases, CHA did not rely solely on the arrest report in making the determination to proceed with legal action, and that CHA honored each resident's/participant's right to due process.

You have the right to appeal to the Supervisor of Records if you are dissatisfied with this response. The address of the Supervisor of Records is:
